Begin with the encyclopedias available from your school library's web page.  Look up your topic and record the following information:
  • Title of the Article
  • Name of the Encyclopedia
  • A definition of the type of weather
  • What conditions precede the weather and what are its causes; how well it can be predicted
  • What happens; how it works
  • What are the results
  • What precautions can be taken to reduce injury or damage

A.  Use your library's web page to access Electric Library [Login: nearnorth Password: elibrary].  Do a Boolean search on your topic in the following form:

  • hurricane* and worst
  • tornado* and worst
  • "heat wave" and worst
  • flood* and worst
  • severe thunderstorm* and worst
  • blizzard* and worst

Find 1 magazine or newspaper article on the topic and summarize it.  Be sure to include the bibliographic data: author, title of the article, source, date, page numbers

  • Do a SUBJECT search on your topic 
  • Select one or more files on your topic
  • Find article on the topic and summarize it.  Be sure to include the bibliographic data: author, title of the article, source, date, page numbers
